Wedding Date: 8/6/2023

IF YOU DON’T HAVE A PASSPORT, OR YOU HAVE AN EXPIRING PASSPORT, GO GET IT NOW! WE’VE HEARD, IN SOME INSTANCES, IT’S TAKING UP TO 3 MONTHS OR MORE TO GET A PASSPORT! We would hate to not have you there because you didn’t have a passport. (Also, if you have an expiring passport this year, some countries will not honor it 3, 6, or some months in advance of it expiring…check the country requirements you’re traveling to now, so there are no surprises when you get to the airport and the country you’re flying into won’t allow you on the plane because your within their expiry window).

Howdy Everyone! Happy Valentines Day everyone! It’s been a super busy month, or at least since we ‘spoke’ last! It looks like nearly everyone has booked their flights, Airbnb, and after-wedding/Ireland trips (some pre-Ireland)! It’s been great to hear about the plans you’re making, really taking advantage of being so close to the heart of Europe that you’re jumping off to your bucket list destinations. Below is an infographic of all the countries we’ll be collectively visiting during this trip. As a group will be covering most of Europe and the UK.

General announcements: What to wear the day of the wedding – nothing super fancy. Imagine if you were going out to a semi-fancy dinner somewhere with friends (not jeans and t-shirts, but not a suit and tie either). We recognize that you’ll all be packing luggage, so no need to pack anything specific just for the wedding day. Ideally, you could repurpose your wardrobe for other parts of your trip. We want you to be comfortable 🙂 – keep in mind even though it’s August, the daytime highs in Ireland will still only hover in the low to mid 70’s and there’s always a chance of rain in Ireland, or anywhere in the UK for that matter. Last year we took a light waterproof jacket with us. We got lucky and didn’t need it in Ireland or Scotland, but got absolutely drenched in Portugal, so we were glad we had it for that day! Remember that the UK and EU don’t use the same electrical plug…super irritating, recommend you get a universal plug on Amazon (https://a.co/gCfjezH).

What’s happened since the last update: We only have a couple loose ends to tie up – and we just secured one of the critical ones, we have our Celebrant for the wedding – Irish fella – Mark Terry – a really nice guy, we had a facetime call with him this morning (2/11) and started to talk through the details. We’re trying to make the ceremony as traditional Irish as we can, so he will be helping us with the ceremony’s orchestration, music, and coordination. We’ve even got a few surprises built-in that we hope you will all enjoy…again, trying to make this memorable and traditional for everyone – something you and we have never experienced before…we may divulge a few secrets between now and the day, but we also want there to be some surprise elements for you to experience in real-time 🙂

The plan: See the archived email for the more detailed plan from the last email. One thing we have added to the plan is a guided bus tour on 7/31 in Iceland. I think we have 17 people booked. It’s a 10-hour tour hitting some of Iceland’s natural highlights. If you want more information or how to book please let us know. https://www.getyourguide.com/reykjavik-l30/iceland-south-coast-waterfalls-tour-t58019/ there is a link to the experience. If you’re interested, don’t book directly there – let us know, we have a group booking, so we’ll want to get you added to the group.

If you are flying into Iceland and staying in Reykjavik, know that the airport is about an hour outside of town. We reserved a bus that leaves every 30 minutes – you buy the voucher and then jump on the bus and they take you to your hotel/Airbnb. Probably the most convenient way to get to town as well as cost-effective. The night before we fly to Ireland we’re staying at a hotel near the airport – we have a super early flight, and didn’t want to try and figure out how to get to the airport at 4am. It’s much easier to be 5 min away. Something to consider if you’re going to be in Iceland and flying to Ireland.

If you have any questions about flight details or seat numbers, or anything really, shoot us an email, call, or whatever.

Ticket prices for everything are going up! We’re seeing plane, Airbnb, and rental car prices going up $100 – 300 (or more) since December. If you can, book now…I don’t see this pricing trend reversing itself anytime soon. If you need any help with planning, destinations, or accommodations let us know.

Again, if you have any questions at all feel free to shoot us an email, text, or call.  If we don’t have the answer, I’m confident we can find it for you!  We want to make this trip as easy as going to your favorite local destination where you don’t have to think about how you get there and what to do once you’re there!  If you want to stop receiving these emails at any time let me know and I’ll stop clogging up your inbox.  Also, if you know folks who want to be added and either want to come or at least want to be informed let me know.

Cheers,
